IKUPI partnered with CRISIL Limited (India) in developing a screening and standard implementation tool for PT. Infrastructure Indonesia Finance (IIF) to measure the socio-economic impact of priority infrastructure projects in Indonesia. This activity is part of The World Bank’s technical support to PT. IIF as a national private company has a role in realizing a more sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia.
The workshop was held for two days on 22-23 May 2023 in Jakarta which was attended by the President Director of PT. IIF with representatives of the World Bank. This event was also attended by representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, Bappenas and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) as well as the IKUPI and CRISIL Teams. On the first day, IKUPI and CRISIL presented Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (ENDC) for India, Costa Rica, and Indonesia. IKUPI and CRISIL explain how the socio-economic screening tools can contribute to the progress of Indonesia’s NDC.
IKUPI and CRISIL team developed two tools for this project. Tool 1 is a screening tool to conduct an initial assessment of the selected infrastructure project. The initial assessment includes projects’ suitability with national priorities, SDGs goals, and other eligibility criterias. Meanwhile, Tool 2 is a quantification tool that aims to calculate the economic value of the social and environmental aspects derived from the eight principles of IIF Social & Environmental Principles (SEP).
The second day of the workshop focused on the exploration of Tool 2, methodology, approaches and demos of using the tool for all participants. The next session discusses data availability and reliability to fill in Tool 2 as well as explanation of the business case of selected infrastructure projects. The provision of these tools is expected to facilitate PT. IIF in screening infrastructure projects in Indonesia from social and environmental aspects that are eligible for funding and assistance.
