Climate resilience is generally understood as a response to survive, adapt, and transform to the disturbances in various urban and rural areas due to climate change. Strategic steps in realizing climate resilience need to be optimized with various efforts through the participation of various parties, especially the community, as the main party is directly affected.
The book entitled Community-Based Climate Resilience: Concept and Implementation offers the paradigm of “Resilience from Below” as an approach to building resilience from the micro level in a bottom-up manner to create resilient and sustainable urban and rural. This book also elaborates on the theory and concept of climate resilience, along with examples of implementing programs and activities based on community initiatives and involvement.
The book Community-Based Climate Resilience: Concept and Implementation was written by two professors from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning – Diponegoro University, Prof. Dr. –Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, ST, MT, MPS and Prof. Dr. sc. agr. Iwan Rudiarto, ST, MSc, and his team (Tia Dianing Insani, Ulfa Mutiara Fitri, Retno Sari Dewi) have a track record of research and involvement in various initiatives related to resilience and climate change. Some of them are participating in the preparation of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) – GCSMUS with the theme “Climate Change Adaptation in Indonesian Cities: Promoting and Building Resilience from Below,” the 100 Resilient Cities program, and others. The book Community-Based Climate Resilience: Concept and Implementation has a proportion of 15×23 cm and contains 200 pages. It is currently in the process of registering an ISBN. Through this book, it is hoped that it can provide benefits and become a reference for the community, academics, and policymakers to encourage more community-based climate resilience practices in Indonesia.
