IKUPI Supports KONEKSI Research Collaboration ‘’Forced Labour and Climate Change: Keeping a Focus on Women and Children’’

As part of a research collaboration addressing urgent issues amid the challenges of climate change, the Urban Climate Initiative (IKUPI) enthusiastically welcomes its participation in the study titled “Forced labour and climate change: Keeping a focus on women and children.” This research is a partnership between Griffith University, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Department of Regional and Urban Planning (DPWK) of UNDIP, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.
This study aims to delve into the connections between forced labor and the impacts of climate change on vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. With a focus on the northern coast of Java Island, including DKI Jakarta, Pekalongan City and Regency, Semarang City, and Demak Regency, this project serves as a strategic moment for IKUPI to directly contribute to policy discussions and advocacy at the local level.
As a non-governmental organization committed to urban resilience in the face of climate change threats, IKUPI is entrusted as a key partner in organizing roundtable discussions and focus group discussions (FGDs). These activities involve the government and local communities to gather deeper insights into the challenges of labor, gender, and climate change. With IKUPI’s experience in community engagement, these discussions are expected to provide a more comprehensive perspective and support informed decision-making.
