Abstract
The border area is an area adjacent to administrative authority entities different. Development options in this area are cooperation, conflict, region which is underdeveloped in terms of development administration. This, along with potential and activity local, affect the development of the border region. This paper aims analyze rural development in border areas with a case study of district borders Temanggung and Kendal in Bejen District (Temanggung District), Patean District and Singorojo (Kendal Regency). The analysis was carried out by comparing the variables quantitative and descriptive qualitative. Study results shows the borders of the border areas to be the ‘backyard’ of each Regency, with the support of rural and agricultural development policies limited. The basic conditions in the three districts are different, but they support each other in function the same area. This is indicated by service orientation and third activity center districts are to Sukorejo District, Kendal Regency, especially for economic activities and agriculture. Community activities at the border of rural areas in functional areas follow collection and distribution functions of goods and services, and can set administrative boundaries.
